Hosting a site accessed by millions of people everyday isn’t gonna be cheap. Bandwidth is not free. They have to pay the bills too just like everyone else.

Doesn’t really bother me...they’re unobtrusive way down below the comment block. I suppose I’d prefer a clearer delineation of where paid content was placed, but in the realms of obnoxious advertising this doesn't even register.
